Chase Heaton, MD

Otolaryngologist
Head and neck and reconstructive surgeon

Chase Heaton, MD

Dr. Chase M. Heaton is a head and neck and reconstructive surgeon at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. He specializes in treating benign and malignant tumors of the oral cavity, oropharynx, larynx, thyroid, skin and salivary glands.

Heaton is fellowship trained in microvascular reconstruction for head and neck cancers (an advanced technique that uses blood vessels and tissues from other parts of the patient's body for repair following tumor removal). He also has experience in transoral robotic surgery for removal of head and neck tumors. Seeking to ensure the best possible care, Heaton is committed to working with patients on individualized treatment plans.

In addition to treating patients, Heaton conducts research on patient outcomes following head and neck surgery. He also teaches and mentors UCSF medical students and otolaryngology residents.

Heaton completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame and earned a medical degree at the Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago. After finishing a residency in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery at UCSF, he completed a one-year fellowship in head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstructive surgery at UCSF. He joined the UCSF faculty full time in 2015.
