Jessica Opoku-Anane, MD
Gynecologist
Dr. Jessica Opoku-Anane is a gynecologist specializing in the treatment of fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis, alternatives to hysterectomy, intrauterine scarring (Asherman's syndrome), prolapse and ovarian pathology.
She has developed several surgical simulation programs and uses her expertise in minimally invasive approaches to teach trainees both locally and abroad in laparoscopic and robotic surgery through small key-hole incisions. Her research interests include methods to make gynecologic surgery safer as well as improving treatments for endometriosis and fibroids.
Opoku-Anane is an assistant professor in the UCSF Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences. She attended Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, followed by residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital and a fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at George Washington University.
