Patrick Ha, MD
Chief, Division of Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery
Dr. Patrick Ha is chief of the Division of Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery at UCSF Medical Center as well as the Irwin Mark Jacobs and Joan Klein Jacobs Distinguished Professor in Head and Neck Cancer. His clinical expertise covers the full breadth of head and neck surgery, with a focus on thyroid and parathyroid surgery as well as endoscopic approaches to throat cancer surgery. Before joining UCSF, Ha served as associate professor of otolaryngology — head and neck surgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the Greater Baltimore Medical Center.
Ha received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University, graduating magna cum laude with highest honors in biology. He obtained his medical degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. He then completed his residency training and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Department of Otolaryngology along with advanced fellowship training in head and neck oncologic surgery.
Currently, his research work is focused on molecular changes that occur in salivary gland adenoid cystic carcinoma. Ha serves on the editorial board of several medical journals, including Head and Neck and Oral Oncology.
