Paul Garcia, MD
Director of Clinical Epilepsy Services
Dr. Paul Garcia is a nationally recognized neurologist in the treatment of epilepsy and director of Clinical Epilepsy Services at UCSF Medical Center. His expertise covers a wide range of conditions and therapies, with a particular interest in treating epilepsy patients after surgery, advances in diagnosis and treatment of frontal lobe epilepsy and epilepsy in patients with brain tumors. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Epilepsy Society and is on the board of directors of the Western EEG Society.
Garcia earned an undergraduate degree with high honors at the University of California, Davis, in physiology and a medical degree at UCSF, where he also completed his residency and subspecialty training in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology. In 1991, he joined the staff of UCSF Medical Center, where he is a professor of neurology. Garcia has served as an ad hoc reviewer for several professional publications, including the Annals of Neurology and the Journal of Neurology, and has published numerous research articles.
