Pediatric emergency care physician

Dina Wallin, MD

Dr. Dina Wallin is a specialist in pediatric emergency medicine, caring for children with serious illnesses and injuries at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco. She also treats both children and adults in the emergency department at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, where she serves as assistant medical director of pediatric emergency medicine.

In research, Wallin's interests include medical education, medical ethics and hospital discharge instructions. Her most recent study focused on identifying characteristics of families and patients that may be used to help predict whether parents or guardians will read their child's discharge instructions.

Wallin earned her medical degree at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed a residency in emergency medicine at UCSF, serving as chief resident. She then moved to the University of Texas to complete a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas, where she served as chief fellow.

Wallin is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and was appointed to its pediatric emergency medicine section. She is also a member of the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine and American Academy of Pediatrics.
